Established in 1845, Rancho Guejito is home to one of the earliest vineyards planted in California and one of the last remaining Mexican land grants of Old California. Helicopter tours, along with vineyard visits and wine club gatherings, have been the most exposure the public has had in the land’s long history.
SDMBA’s Ride the Rancho was a fully supported, 15-mile scenic tour through Rancho Guejito, a 36 square-mile private ranch that has been altogether closed to public access for over its more than 150 year ownership. All manner of bikes were on display, gravel and mountain bikes, as well as some electric-powered.

Last weekend the Southern California cross country mountain bike race organizer Non Dot Adventures held their annual Casper’s Wilderness XC Race in San Juan Capistrano, California. This was the second race in the Non Dot Adventure series which continues with two more races into the end of March.

The Proudfat frame features a number of considerations to accommodate the rear triangle. The down tube and seat tube connect to the bottom bracket, but a second cylinder sits right above the bottom bracket in line with the seat tube that acts as a pivot point for the rear suspension.

The Harding Truck trail begins at the end of Modjeska Canyon Road in Silverado, CA. This is one of the many doubletrack fire roads in the northern part of Cleveland National Forest that is easily accessible with any mountain or gravel bike.
Each year Titan Tropic MTB Race in Cuba continues to work with local communities to build new trail infrastructure to incorporate into the race, helping to create a recreational bicycle community and improving the event routes over the years. Many racers brought their families, who followed the race via bus, all organized by Titan Tropic.
When you think about mountain biking in the Big Bear area, a first thought may be of riding up the chairlift at Snow Summit for some downhill action, or riding the famed Santa Ana River Trail. While these are great ways to spend a day in the local mountains, many lesser known riding options are worth exploring.
Racers in the inaugural eMTB race make their way around the course at the 2016 Sea Otter Classic festivel held in Monterey. The event is the first of it’s kind in the US, though the bikes are raced extensively in Europe.
