The toughest cyclocross race in the world. Staged in the Yorkshire Dales National Park since 1961 the Three Peaks is a grandparent to every adventure race that’s come after. The first off-road event of its kind, it follows in the muddy footsteps and tyre tracks of a 14-year-old Yorkshire schoolboy who first completed the arduous route by bicycle in 1959. Since then the course and event have expanded to become the largest and most feared cyclocross in the UK.
I’ll dissect exactly what happened further down, but for the moment I’ll say this: On the international race broadcast and across Twitter, there was a sentiment that the pit mishap was not Brand’s fault, and that it cost Brand the win. I don’t believe either of those suggestions are accurate.

Cyclo-cross races and family cycling events return to Whittier Narrows Recreation Area for Cyclo-cross Los Angeles Weekend, Nov. 19-20. CXLA Weekend will host 60 categorized events for cyclists of all levels held over two days, and five family-friendly cycling events.

Held in El Dorado Park in Long Beach, the CXLA event is part of the SoCalCross PRESTIGE SERIES. The course was long and dry, with sand-pits, obstacles and fine silica dust enshrouding the riders as they made their way through the park.
October 18th was a beautiful day for cyclocross on the 2,000 acres of land at Prado Park in Chino Hills for the Velocity Cross race hosted by SoCalCross. The course was a rolling terrain of grassy fields, mixed with a little bit of dirt and asphalt, with 1 “step-up” and 1 barrier for the cyclists to conquer.
