The sun was beating down in the early afternoon of August 16 as cyclists lined up to ride the Summer End Grand Prix Criterium in Ontario, CA. This was the 18th year and the 7th and final race of the Pacific Sunset Velo 2015 summer series criterium.
GoPro, the ubiquitous sport POV camera company, has a couple videos from last month’s Tour de France, but our favorite is the best of the first 7 stages. The excitement amongst the field is palpable and documented with close-up views afforded by the on-board cameras. Is this the future of televised bicycle racing?
Winding through the Los Angeles basin, the LA River Ride provided participants with a multitude of routes and ride lengths. Presented by the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, the main ride was an out-and-back that started and finished at the Autry Center in Griffith park and stretched to the coast in Long Beach.
The 2015 Tour of California ended in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl. The finish marked the completion of the 10th running of this spectacular event. It was a showdown of top riders from around the world including crowd favorites Peter Sagan and Mark Cavendish. The race culminated in a tight finish with Peter Sagan taking the overall victory.
