Inspiring Adventure in an Age of Convenience

Diversity and Inclusion

Advocate, commute, participate, race, transport, explore. BICYCLIST is for the people who ride bicycles. We work to inspire, guide and cheer along the un-sung heros of the two (or one…or three) wheeled life.

For Us, by Us.

We are a social enterprise dedicated to advocating and promoting the cycling life. We are free of outside investment. We don’t accept money for gear reviews. We own and operate BICYCLIST ourselves, join us.

Online, Since 2014

We were late to the digital party, but are working hard to make up for lost time. Members enjoy full access to our archive of [sbs_posts] articles, our magazine back issues, podcast special edition episodes and more.

In Print, Since 1994

We publish BICYCLIST magazine, distributed to better bike shops, breweries and coffee shops throughout the western US. Find a shop near you to get your own copy.

We are joined on our mission with [sbs_roles role=”contributor”] contributing writers, photographers, and illustrators. Support our work and become a supporting member.

Chris Reynolds is managing director of BICYCLIST (Broad Investigation of Challenging Yourself, Cycling Lifestyle and Inspiring Sustainable Transportation). Chris started his relationship with the bicycle as a commuter piloting the streets of San Luis Obispo as a college student at Cal Poly. The casual relationship became official when he moved to San Francisco to study Industrial Design and relied on a bicycle and the rail system to get around. After coming back to Southern California, from where he was born and raised, Chris first found a copy of the print edition of Southern California Bicyclist (SCB) magazine at his local bike shop back in 2009 and has been a reader ever since. Chris took over the magazine from SCB founder Will Decker in 2014 to help ensure the magazine would exist for future generations to find inspiration for their next ride. Chris is a co-host of the BICYCLIST Experience: A Weekly Cycling Podcast.

Kelley O’Toole is managing editor of BICYCLIST. Kelley received her degree in English from Cal State Long Beach and brings a talent with words that is soon to be exceeded by her talent on the bike. Kelley is an active community volunteer and enjoys riding her yellow road bike solo through the streets and trails of Southern California. Kelley brings a unique perspective to the editorial team that is balanced with a positive attitude that rings true throughout the content BICYCLIST publishes. Kelley also hosts the BICYCLIST Experience: A Weekly Cycling Podcast

Victor Prestinary is a producer at BICYCLIST. Victor studied the fine art of bicycle commuting while attending UC Davis, earning a bachelor’s degree in astrophysics. Between staring at screens, stars, and focus points, Victor spends his time outside of the bicycling life listening to reggae (Lee Perry and King Tubby), alpine backpacking and devising unique and creative ways to live a Vegan lifestyle while riding, writing, and commuting daily. Victor is a co-host of the BICYCLIST Experience: A Weekly Cycling Podcast.
