The Amgen Tour of California is fresh in our minds on this episode and we are especially impressed by the performance from the Rally Cycling Men’s team. We also have found a favorite newcomer to watch, 19 year old Neilson Powless of Axeon Cycling landed a fierce attack on Stage 3 riding up Gibraltar Road, and of course, it wouldn’t be a proper ATOC discussion without mention of Peter Sagan. He’s earned two Stage wins so far, making Stage 4 his 15th win in his years of riding the Tour of California.
We talk Giro d’Italia and the drop-outs by Dumoulin, Cancellara, and Kitell; plus Stage 1 of the Amgen Tour of California Women’s Race starts today in South Lake Tahoe.
Lastly an article by Dan Cavallari released by Velonews catches our attention. “The Drivetrain Wars” is an interesting overview of the various technologies employed in bicycle drivetrains, but most interesting is the insight into Rotor Bike Components and the current playing field of drivetrain development in road racing.
Our sponsor for this week’s episode is the Big Bear Cycling Festival on July 30 – August 7th. Big Bear Cycling and the City of Big Bear Lake are proud to present the Big Bear Cycling Festival; a full week of rides and cycling related activities at 7000’ in the San Bernardino Mountains. The Big Bear Cycling Festival has planned a full schedule of fun for the whole week, including the famous Big Bear MTB Gran Fondo and Grizzly 100 presented by Big Bear Valley Vacations on Saturday July 30th and the Tour de Big Bear Presented by REMAX on Saturday August 6th.
