The sun was beating down in the early afternoon of August 16 as cyclists lined up to ride the Summer End Grand Prix Crit race in Ontario, CA. This was the 18th year and the 7th and final race of the Pacific Sunset Velo 2015 summer series criterium. The course was 1.2 miles of flat pavement with 7 corners and made for an exceptional showing of speedy riders. With cash prizes ranging from $150 to $1000 and a bunch of gear grabs, the competition was intense throughout. There was an array of local teams including those from Surf City Cyclery, Rock Racing, Spy Giant Ride, Velocity Cycling, Bahati Racing, and Simple Green just to name a few. Surf City Cyclery member Kayle LeoGrande took the title win for the Men’s Pro 1/2/3 cat with Ulises Castillo from team KHS -Maxxiss- JL Velo taking second and Robert Freeman from team Rokform following in third.
