It was a bright morning for bicyclists participating in the annual Bike the Bay ride on Sunday, August 23 in San Diego to support the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. The weather was just right for a rolling tour of Coronado Island. The participants were all smiles as they rode onward to the historic Coronado-Bay Bridge to begin their 25 mile route. Hundreds of bicyclists swarmed across the bridge, many of them gathering in groups to enjoy the leisurely ride together and look out onto the crisp waters of the San Diego Bay. After crossing, they made their way through beautiful Coronado Island, past Chula Vista and National City, to end at Embarcadero Marina Park South where they were met at the finish line with lunch and a New Belgium Beer Garden. Participation in this annual event allows bicyclists the once-a-year opportunity to ride along the bridge by bicycle. It was a successful and tremendous turn out this year and we can’t wait for Bike the Bay 2016.
