Love riding your bicycle?! Want to kickstart your 2019 New Year resolution to ride more!? We have the perfect ride for you! Sign up for the Velo Love Ride on February 9th and achieve any and all of those goals! Bring a friend along for added fun! We have a 40, 60, or 100 mile adventure around the famous Sutter Buttes for you to enjoy. This mostly flat, scenic ride takes you past the Gray Lodge Wildlife Sanctuary, through blossoming orchards and around the Sutter Buttes! This ride is rain or shine.
100 Miles (94.1 miles & 828′ elevation) – Set off for your journey with a 34-mile loop to the north through old walnut orchards between Gridley and the Feather River. At the northernmost part of the ride, look for mine tailings from the gold rush era along the Feather River and Thermalito Afterbay. You’ll take a quick lunch stop back at the Fairgrounds, then join the 60 milers for the scenic Sutter Buttes loop.
60 Miles (60.7 miles & 570′ elevation) – The perfect ride if you’re upping your riding game, but not quite ready for a century! You’ll roll out towards the scenic 40 mile loop and pass Grey Lodge Wildlife Refuge. Lunch will be waiting at about 30 miles in the town of Sutter, and then you’ll tackle a few rollers around the Sutter Buttes before heading back to the Fairgrounds.
40 Miles (42.1 miles & 494′ elevation) – Circling the great Sutter Buttes could be very romantic! This route gets you up close to the scenery without taking you too far. After checking in at the Fairgrounds, drive to the start at the Grey Lodge parking lot on Rutherford Rd. Lunch will be served in the town of Sutter at 20 miles into the ride. Then you’ll tackle the rollers before finishing the ride and driving back to the Fairgrounds for the post-ride dinner.
