United States Implements a Vision Zero Plan
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has adopted a Vision Zero plan for the year 2046, aiming to eliminate the more than 35,000 people killed each year in traffic related deaths. Sweden has pioneered the idea, bringing their traffic death rate down to 3 for every 100,000 people. Comparatively, the US has almost 4 times that with 11 traffic deaths per 100,000. The government organization will work over the next month with state and local governments, as well as the private sector, to develop a plan to eliminate these needless fatalities.
