You know him from our “Ask the Bike Coach” column and now you can receive some of Rick Schutlz expertise for FREE at two local bike shops on January 27th and 28th from 1pm – 4pm. Rick from Bike Fitness Coaching will be there to give a hands on presentation on how to best prepare and preform for a gravel grinder event.

The Pitch

Are you busy but still want to compete in or complete an epic ride as a Gravel Grinder? Or, you might have some time but don’t know how to get started or how to train? Some of these events can be difficult with up to 100 miles of road plus 40 miles of dirt and over 10,000 ft. of climbing.

The clinic will provide you with information on how to choose a bicycle, what type of equipment and clothing you’ll need, appropriate nutrition and hydration, and how to begin training. Gravel events like the Belgian Waffle Ride are becoming more popular in California with the abundance of mixed surface options for riding.

For those that would like a coach to help with your training, Bike Fitness Coaching has teamed with Peaks Coaching Group offering customized daily training plans.

There won’t be ‘vintage’ drivetrains in 20 years as none of the batteries will be usable. I have a birthday coming up, maybe I’m being overly nostalgic to consider this.
